Motivation and Passion
Mardi’s desire to help others was always deeply ingrained in who she was, and it was and still is her main motivation to do what she does. Whether as a child with her friends, a nurse with her patients or a mother with her children and local community, she would always find herself helping others, but always with the idea that her help would empower one, not make one dependent on you.
It so turns out that in her own life experience, Mardi went through some physical hardships that are quite beyond the ordinary. And if this did not form the core of her motivation, as it was already there, it did show her how incredibly resilient a human can be. That specific knowledge is what stirred such passion in her, the passion to share this hard-earned truth with others, so that they would get in touch with their own power to heal themselves, regardless of the level of hardships they were experiencing.
A Dark Night of the Soul
With the number and depth of the injuries Mardi sustained, following a major accident, it was very unlikely she would ever lead a normal life again. Being that she was very athletic, ‘normal’ for her meant running, working out every day, skiing, surfing, etc… ‘Out of the question’ were the words she heard from her doctor, pointing at the foot long brace she would have to wear for the rest of her life. In fact, just walking normally was not going to happen. The physical hurdles were hard enough, but it also turns out Mardi was going through exceedingly difficult emotional times. It is fair to say that she was going through what some call a Dark Night of the Soul.
Traditional doctors were not opening doors to the solutions she needed to live her life fully. She started searching for more. What she found opened her up to new opportunities to heal herself and help others heal as well: Breathwork.
